- Since 2010 there have been many changes to the old PRSI and medical card systems. Your PRSI contributions entitle you to one dental examination per calendar year.
- The medical card/HSE scheme has also been changed drastically, and this has led to a lot of confusion
- Always remember that if you are in pain or have a dental emergency it CAN be sorted out using your medical card
- The HSE will generally cover two fillings per calendar year and extractins as needed
- Dentures, root canal treatments and periodontal (gum) treatments may be available to you with prior approval
- Certain medical, physical and psychological conditions will entitle you to a broader range of treatments.
